Here’s an Idea for a Yoga Video for Women: Menstrual Yoga

How about a “you’re on your period and you’re crampy and feeling icky and shouldn’t be doing inversions” video.
On a related note: Don’t you hate going to yoga class and they tell you not to do inversions if you are on your period, or worse, ask you if you are on your period, and then you are forced to announce to the world (and the guys in class) that you are, indeed, on your period at the moment?
I have to admit, sometimes I just go ahead and do the inversion anyway, period and all. I have yet to keel over and die by doing that, by the way.

when i teach i usually i say something like, “if you’ve got high blood pressure, your period or if you just don’t feel like going upside down then do x, y or z instead of inverting.”
I was thinking about this just today and how wonderful this would be. I would love a nice, relaxing DVD to practice to during that time, with lots of twists, no inversions and lots of cushy, mind-numbing music. Or, better yet, mind-numbing music and savasana for the entirety of the DVD. Ha! I guess that wouldn’t be a big seller, huh?
Namaste.
I agree, does anyone know of a yoga DVD avaliable that caters to women on their period? I love doing my yoga videos but find it very frustrating to stop during my menstrual cycle.

i also found a number of sites when i googled “yoga postures for menstrual cramps, including a series of short videos per pose at http://www.expertvillage.com/video-series/505_yoga-for-women.htm.
it’d be cool to find a dvd though for sure.
