Just a quick note that I will be posting up some yoga reviews here soon. I’m finally starting to feel settled here in Austin and can begin to go through a small backlog of items that are in the “review queue.” This includes a yoga music album, a book (or two) and some websites offering [...]

I’ve just moved to a new city and instead of jumping right into yoga classes, I decided to take Aikido instead. I still plan on checking out the yoga options here soon. A 10-minute walk will get me to a branch of the big yoga “chain” here in Austin. (It reminds of Little Caesar’s: It’s [...]

Someone just left a comment on my blog here saying that Saul David Raye’s single yoga classes are now $23 at Exhale in Venice. I haven’t confirmed this for myself, but I have noticed yoga prices going up in Los Angeles. Yoga West, for example, used to charge $16 for a single class and it’s [...]

I have a little yoga peeve I’d like to share. There’s a woman who teaches classes at a gym I teach at, and whenever she sends out an email to the other yoga teachers, she often signs it with hugs and kisses, i.e.: xox And maybe a smiley face. Sometimes, if she’s in a hurry, [...]

I was looking for yoga jobs on Craigslist today and saw one where they wanted a recent photo sent in along with your resume. I decided not to apply. It’s not that I feel I can’t compete physically, but I don’t want to work at a place where women are being chosen to teach yoga [...]

Here’s an interesting study: It found that an 8-week program of daily yoga, including asanas and pranayama, decreased verbal aggressiveness in the males and those under 25. More info here. Share on Facebook

Over the years I’ve heard a lot of people saying that yoga changed their lives, to the point where it seems to become a cliche. I find for myself, however, that yoga has been instrumental in helping me achieve a greater peace of mind and contentment. I believe it’s a combination of two things, the [...]

I regularly check Craigslist for yoga jobs, and I see quite a few sleazy men posting looking for “personal trainers” or yoga instructors where the main qualification is the photo you send in. Here’s an ad I caught this morning. Note the triple emphasis ***on every line!!!***: Sexy, Fit, Female Fitness Trainer or Sexy, Fit, [...]

I’ve been watching the Biggest Loser (yes, yes, it’s a reality show, but it is very interesting to watch people’s struggles with weight loss). They have been teaching the contestants yoga as part of their training. So in this week’s episode, the contestants had a challenge where they had to run up and down a [...]

OK, it’s really not fair of me to target “gym yoga teachers” because I am one of those gym yoga teachers (currently subbing at a chain I will not mention so they won’t get on my case about publicizing their company on my blog). Gym yoga isn’t always bad – it depends on the teacher, [...]
